Dear 395 student:
It is a pretty sad situation when one-third of a class cannot submit the
simplest of assignments on time! You were given an assignment last Monday to
submit to me by 5:00 today, a solitary question related to applying for
graduate schools, medical schools, gaining experience or anything else of
importance to you. Earning an A in this class could not possibly be easier -
attend, participate and follow instructions yet you 12 of 35 students failed to
submit your assignment. You had 6 days to figure out a trivial question. That
you forgot to do so is simply not acceptable. Hence for each of you the path to
an A just became more difficult. In order to retain your grade of A you will now
have to write a 3-page (MINIMUM) double spaced typed paper with no larger than
12 point font and no larger than 1 inch margins. The topic of the paper will be
a personal statement about yourself covering your current academic interests,
your career interest(s), your postgraduate plans, and what you see yourself
doing 10 years after you earn your baccalaureate degree. At least I am giving
you a paper to write that is a worthwhile endeavor. It is a sad commentary that
I must take a punitive approach. This paper must be submitted electronically no
later than NOON Monday September 7. Yes that is labor day weekend. Hence if youdon’t want to be laboring over the weekend get your act together and send me the paper before the deadline. If you don’t want to do the assignment then let me know (except for my research trainees) and we will drop you from the course.
However note that if you choose that solution you will not be permitted to
enroll in the class in future semesters. If you fail to submit the assignment
by the deadline your grade will drop automatically by one letter grade and will
continue to drop by one letter grade for every 12 h the paper is further
delayed! Additionally if the paper is submitted but does not meet the required
guidelines described above showing that you cannot follow instructions that
will also lead to a drop of a letter grade.
If you have some truly valid reason for not submitting the question, I am
willing to listen. Otherwise you have your new assignment.
Sincerely
Dr. Tischler
On that note, what up Tumblr?
I have no time for you.
So, I’m kinda really excited for this class. It’s a 815 student lecture in Centenial that meets only Mon and Wed with no discussion group.
Not only that, but there’s no required text, outline lecture notes are posted online with a fill in the blank structure with information from the lectures, and instead of having to purchase a clicker, I can download a free app for my iPod Touch! Didn’t you know…? There’s an app for that!
What what what?! Awesome!!
My microbiology teacher makes podcasts of all his lessons. SCORE!
